Intro to Genesis
Before I get into the study of Genesis 1, I think it very important to establish the proper mindset so that the creation story is
looked at with a proper understanding as to why God gave us the story of creation, the importance of it, and it's infallibility.
Please take the time to read this four short page intro, it won't really take that long for the average reader, and I think you will
find the study more worth while in the long run. This entire intro could be an article instead of a Bible Study, but it remains
pertinent to the Bible Study itself and therefore stands as the intro to this study.
Genesis is the most controversial book in the Bible. More people have refuted and contested it, and the creation outline has been
questioned, twisted, and molded to fit into every theory that comes along.
So why did Moses write the Creation story in Genesis? Because if God is the eternal creator, and if he created all this for us, then
would he not want his creation, (us) to know where we came from and how we got here? If he simply came onto the scene to a race of
creatures that developed perchance and by accident, then he would not really be our God or have any power over us.
Many have questioned the authority of matter and whether God actually created the matter, or used the matter to form our current
known existence. This again leaves God as being something less than an eternal power head and it greatly diminishes his power and
authority over creation. Most of all, it is disbelieving Gods Word and bringing it into Question. Is not this the same thing the
serpent did to Eve? He made her QUESTION what she had been told by God. Jesus clearly healed people with crooked limbs, blind from
birth, and many other what we call miraculous works, which clearly showed His authority over the creature of creation. Last but not
least, this book, and the story of creation was told by Moses, and Jesus himself quoted Moses as being an authority in proclaiming
Gods declaration to us. Moses accurately prophesied about things that would happen many years later, and his prophecies came
true, thus yielding credibility to Moses word as given to him by God. Therefore, if you are a minister teaching that the earth could
be millions or billions of years old, or that creation was a manipulation of genetics, you need to stop, because I for one can attest
to the damage it does in a young mans life to not see and hear all the evidence that seems to indicate scientifically that the earth
is young, and that creation, not evolution happened just as God proclaimed it to Moses. When I do my testimonial, I will relate how
this farce of evolution nearly destroyed my life. Jesus said himself that two witnesses establish a truth. Moses wrote down the word
of God, and Jesus provided his own witness to Moses, thereby establishing Moses authority, not to mention that Jesus quoted from
Genesis thereby confirming it's accuracy.
The second reason for God to tell us about the Creation is because creation itself is a reflection of Gods Nature:
Romans 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being
understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
