2000 Years Ago vs Today
Are we any different, or should we expect to be any different from the Chosen people of 2000 years ago? Are we so arrogant as to think we are better than the Jews who were God's chosen of 2,000 years ago, or are we much the same way? When Jesus came to the earth, the Jewish leaders had interpreted the Bible to hear what they wanted to hear God say, and as a result when Jesus came to the earth, they did not know Him. Because they wanted a King that would lead them to victory over the Romans, they did not want to live under persecution, so they ignored scriptures like Isaiah Ch 52, and the Psalms and a few others that foretold of their salvation through a man who would be persecuted, and instead concluded that their Messiah would come as the King of Kings.
Today, we don't want to read the verses that say you will be persecuted, or the rapture will be after the tribulation, we would rather interpret other verses to say we will be spared. When the Jews refused to believe Jesus was the Messiah, their hearts were hardened and their eye's were closed, as Jesus said, that seeing they would not percieve, that listening they would not hear. I present yet another verse of Jesus' return, one that is much overlooked, the parable of the tares.
