Genesis 1:29-31

Creation of Man

29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.

God has created man, in the previous verses Ho ordained man to have dominion over all His creation.  This gave man a responsibility to care for what God had created, and now as a reward to man He gave us herbs bearing seed to be for meat, and the fruit of the trees.  God had given man complete sustainance for life in the herbs and the fruits.

Through His prophet Isaiah God declared that He did not like that which He called good to be called bad, and that which He calls bad to be spoken of for good.  We know from past pharmacology and modern science that Herbs have very specific benefits to our health and well being.  Some help us sleep, some give us energy, some relieve anxiety while other relieve pain.  Today we are standing silently as the pharmeceutical companies who manufacture chemicals some of which have serious side effects, are trying to illegalize over the counter herbs and vitamins.  Why?  It could yield a lessening in overall health, and it also improves their already vulgar profit levels, (my honest opinion).  We cannot serve both God and Mammon, yet we seem to be serving mammon more than God on a national level.

31 And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day

Creation has been completed, and it was finished in 6 days.  You can count the days in the direct pronouncement of the end of the day, or you can count the days by the number of evenings and mornings which is defined by the earths rotation.  Six days is all it took, God said it, I believe it, and that settles it.  :-)
