Now the Gospel of Mark

Mark 13:9 But take heed to yourselves: for they shall deliver you up to councils; and in the synagogues ye shall be beaten: and ye shall be brought before rulers and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them.

Mark repeats what Matthew said with an additional statement, your persecution is a testimony against those who persecute the saints. This is perhaps another important reason for us to be here during the tribulation instead of being taken up before hand.

Mark 13:11 But when they shall lead you, and deliver you up, take no thought beforehand what ye shall speak, neither do ye premeditate: but whatsoever shall be given you in that hour, that speak ye: for it is not ye that speak, but the Holy Ghost.

It would have been easy for Jesus, having known in advance that He was to be delivered to the Romans, to have thought a host of things to say, but as the Bible says, we went silently before His accusers speaking not in His own defense.  This verse is telling us NOT to premeditate or consider what we are going to say.  How often we would like to say, I should tell them this, or tell them that, but we are instructed not to do such a thing becuse in the hour of our persecution the Holy Ghost willput the words in our mouth, and it is possible we won't even know what we are going to say until we ourselves hear the words coming out of our mouth.  The Holy Spirit knows the perfect thing to say at any given moment and your accusers will have no defense against the words of the Spirit.

12 Now the brother shall betray the brother to death, and the father the son; and children shall rise up against their parents, and shall cause them to be put to death.

This may not only mean brothers by birth, but will most likely include Brothers within the Church.

13 And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

Again, Christians will be hated of all men and all nations, and again, endure to the end signifies we will be here.

Mark 13:24 But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,
25 And the stars of heaven shall fall, and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken.
26 And then shall they see the Son of man coming in the clouds with great power and glory.
27 And then shall he send his angels, and shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from the uttermost part of the earth to the uttermost part of heaven.

Once again a reference to the gathering up of Gods people, the Jesus followers, the Christians, and once again this reference places the event at the end of the tribulation.
