Suddenly, and not by intent on my part, but somehow everything was different. My view of God and Creation changed. As a child, I knew God was powerful, I knew he could change the color of the sky at will, I knew and believed that Jesus could tell the wind to be still, and it would, that with a word or a touch he could perform what we who wear mortal clothes call miracles. Now God became just another part of the cosmic function, matter existed probably since forever, and God was always there, but he used matter and circumstances of the earths existence and he manipulated genetics probably through selective breeding to create the different forms of life. I quit attending Church, I still believed, but God was no longer the all powerful force he used to be. Before I learned of Evolution I knew I could call on God just as David did, and I knew he was bigger than all my problems, and now I wasn't so sure as he had been greatly reduced in my perspective. Which God is stronger and truly Omniscient, one who could create the universe from nothing or one who must use matter already present and manipulate it to fit His design? My God has the power to create from nothing, the universe is nothing to Him, in fact we've been able to figure out what atoms are, but we still don't know the matter of energy, what is an electron made of? a proton? Perhaps they are simply the expression of gods directed energy. If electrons are attracted to atoms by the pull of unlike charges, (the protons in the nucleus), then what is forcing the nucleus to hold together? Why do protons all bunch together like a north and south pole of magnets would do? I think God is holding every single atom together bny His will and His will alone
Being the scientific minded individual I was, I shed the cloak of spiritual life and began experimenting with life itself, I wanted to know from experience how the mind worked, I wanted to experience life so I began to live it up. I was facing the draft and Viet Name, the hippie movement was in full swing, LSD, Weed, Reds & Whites were in abundance and they were cheap. Everyone in Southern California was doing it, I think in my High School maybe only 10% did not smoke Pot as a recreational crutch.
