Where was God?

I had deserted God, the more I experimented the further I got, and the deeper I would plunge. I was a snowball that started at the top of a mountain and was rolling down the hill gaining mass and momentum each and every new day. For 20 years I went from one binge to another. I never forgot about God, I knew he was there, he just wasn't the most important aspect of my life anymore, but even though I would turn my back on Him, he never turned His back on me. Somehow I knew this, sometimes when I would be partying with a friend, we would get totally stoned and talk about God with a, "That's Heavy" type attitude. But God was always present, always watching me, always protecting me from harm. I went from driving cars to riding motorcycles, and I got rear-ended by a small truck that was doing 55 while I was doing about 25. I knew I was going to die because that is what everyone told me, "Of you ride a motor cycle and have an accident it will kill you because you have no protection", but even though I was stoned I remember as I bounced off the windshield of the truck and went tumbling through the air, I heard a voice say, "Just relax", and I knew I was going to be OK. I hit the asphalt like I was tumbling on a bed mattress and catapulted into the air again, 3 times I went airborne. When I finally came to rest, I suffered no broken bones, not even a bruise. I had a rug burn on my right palm from trying to hold on to the motorcycle, and a few layers of skin missing from my hip where my cigarette lighter separated me from the pavement. When I got home and laid down to go to sleep, I knew God had somehow orchestrated my safety, but I still did not change.
